Boutique Guitars - Gibson Les Paul Standard

After a long time, we bring you something from our Boutique Guitars edition, this time from the Gibson workshop. In this article, we will present the rebirth of this guitar classic from the 1980s.

This is a classic Gibson Les Paul Standard made in 1984.

This rock and blues legend became the flagship of the Gibson company and has been produced in an unchanged form for over 60 years.

At the owner's request, we breathed new soul into this beautiful, rare guitar and gradually modified and restored the original components.

The work again involved the gradual replacement of the original components with new ones. Guitar experts will certainly be interested in the new Earvana Graphtech compensated nut, which we installed to replace the original.

It was a complete guitar service. We will gradually mention what exactly it included.

1. Fretboard modification

Regarding the fretboard modification, it once again included a complete refret. We removed the original frets and leveled the fretboard.

We replaced the original frets with new ones according to our standard. We usually use hard fret wire, so the finished frets have, so to speak, eternal durability.

As mentioned above, we replaced the original nut with an Earvana compensated nut made of Graphtech material.

2. Body modification and component replacement

On the guitar body, the pickups were replaced, the electronics cavity was shielded with copper, and the overall wiring, potentiometers, and pickup selector switch were modified.

The original bridge contained metal saddles, which we replaced with new Graphtech ones.

The owner uses the guitar in standard tuning, and after this modification, its characteristic sound was spiced up even more. You can see the result for yourself:
