History and origin of the Moraharpa
Moraharpa is the predecessor of the Nyckelharpa instrument. Nyckelharpa is a bit more complex, but our Moraharpa model also features resonant strings, delivering a rich sound.
Historically, a traditional Moraharpa usually has one melodic string and two drone strings without resonant strings.
Aura Moraharpa
The Aura Moraharpa has two melodic strings tuned to G and C, one drone string tuned to C, and 8 additional resonant strings.
The instrument is played with the help of a key mechanism equipped with 13 flaps. The lower string is controlled by all 13 flaps and the upper string by 7 flaps. This mechanism ensures more accurate playing, as it always presses the string in the exact same place.
