The History of Orville and Orville by Gibson
The Orville brand holds a special position among Japanese versions of major brand models. These are licensed replicas of Gibson guitars, produced in Japan between 1988 and 1998, primarily for the local market. Later, these instruments were sold under the Epiphone Elitist brand, which are also highly sought after and quite rare.
Orville instruments can be generally divided into two groups:
- Orville Brand: Instruments with a simple Orville logo were the basic models, featuring Japanese hardware.
- Orville By Gibson Brand: These models featured built-in USA Gibson pickups and offered a significantly higher quality of craftsmanship. They can match the original Gibson in every detail, often at almost half the price.
